Millions of people go to health centers every year for asthma attacks and allergic reactions that need treatment. And that’s not all, because if you don’t act quickly,  mold will permanently damage surfaces, including floors, textiles and wood.

So these tips will definitely come in handy!

What is fungus and why does it appear?

Aspergillus

Mold is a type of fungus that does not belong to the animal or vegetable kingdom. It grows in colonies of cells, as long as the right conditions are in place:

  • Sufficient oxygen.
  • High humidity.
  • Warm temperatures.

Of course we can’t leave our thermostat off all year round; that would be impossible. The only things we can do is control moisture and clean it periodically. Also remember that there are different types of fungi. Some of these are very poisonous, such as Aspergillus.

People with respiratory problems can experience severe reactions when they come into contact with fungi.

What are ways to remove or prevent mold?

Often the chemicals we buy in stores don’t give the results we expect, leading to more risks than benefits. There are many practical and inexpensive solutions that effectively remove mold. Just take a look:

1. Control the humidity

Bedroom

As we mentioned above, we can’t turn off our thermostats all year round to avoid the presence of unhealthy mold, but we can keep the humidity under control. That’s how you do that:

  • Mold loves poorly ventilated areas with high temperatures. That is why you can often find it in basements, in the corners of the kitchen, in cupboards, storage rooms etc… A simple solution is to ventilate these areas regularly.
  • Open the windows and let the fresh air flow into these places. Moreover, it is almost the same with our beds. After all, it is not good to make your bed as soon as you wake up. Therefore, it is better to let the sheets ventilate to avoid mites. The same also applies to mold.
  • If you have a serious mold problem in your home, you can always use a small air purifier. This solution will cost you money, but if you have someone in your house with breathing problems, it is recommended.

2. Tea tree oil

Tea Tree Oil

We’ve talked about the amazing benefits of tea tree oil before. It is the best natural disinfectant available and will give you the best results. You can buy it at any natural products store or specialty grocery store. It is useful for so many different things and very practical for removing mold. How to use it:

Ingredients:

  • 2 tablespoons of tea tree oil
  • 2 cups of water
  • A spray bottle
  • Gloves

Preparation method:

Be sure to put on gloves to protect yourself. Mold can cause unexpected reactions and therefore it is better not to touch it with your bare hands. Once you’re done, add the tea tree oil and water together in the spray bottle, then shake it to mix well.

Use the spray bottle to apply the mixture to the areas affected by the fungus. Then leave it on for half an hour and watch it disappear on its own.

3. White vinegar

White Vinegar

A simple and effective trick. White vinegar kills 90% of molds found in homes, making it one of the cheapest solutions. It’s great for those awkward areas in the bathroom (cupboards, behind the toilet and doors) and other places where fungus often appears.

How do you use vinegar to remove mold?

Ingredients:

  • 1/2 cup white vinegar
  • A spray bottle

Preparation method:

The idea is to fill a small plastic spray bottle with white vinegar so that it is always ready for a daily cleaning. Once you’ve done this, you can spray it on the moldy areas. Repeat at least twice a week, paying extra attention to damp and poorly ventilated areas where these pesky and potentially dangerous microorganisms like to grow.

Are you ready to get rid of mold in an instant from today?
